You’re a dumbass and you get what you deserve

Here we are just over a week into Government Shutdown 2 – Congressional Boogaloo and what have we learned so far?

  • Well, depending on your source, about 80-85% of the government is still functioning as before (Google it).
  • Non-essential employees (by whose definition we don’t know) aren’t working. And, those people are likely trying to get therapy for being declared non-essential. Wonder if they are having a hard time signing up for Obamacare?
  • Our National Mall is closed, but open for those who want to rally for immigration reform.
  • While at the same time, those from “the greatest generation” who stepped up on their own and fought in WWII aren’t allowed to go to an outdoor monument that is never closed yet for some reason now has fences erected around it to keep them out.
  • The US Postal Service which loses $25M per day is still delivering my Penny Saver ad on Tuesday’s.
  • But, people aren’t allowed to look at a carved up mountain paying homage to our greatest presidents.
  • Many brave young men and women are off in various sand countries fighting to keep our freedom (or something similar which our government really isn’t clear about).
  • Yet, the families of those poor souls who don’t make it out alive aren’t able to get the benefits they are due.

I could go on and on, but you get the picture. It’s pretty fucked up.

So, who’s to blame for this mess?

The Republicans? Most of the media would have you believe this.

The crazy radical Tea Party folks? The rest of the media (minus 1 in particular) would have you believe this.

The Democrats? Fox News (the one) and Republicans would have you believe this.

Folks, let’s be serious for a moment, they are all to blame. They are only doing what’s in their best interest which is keeping their, or ideally accumulating more, power.

I’ve said it a million times, they all suck and are not being true representatives of the people.

So, who is REALLY to blame?

You are you dumbass.

You say you don’t approve of how Congress is doing their job.

Thanks Daily Show.

Yet, you continue to reelect the same dip shits every time.

Again, thanks Daily Show

Again, thanks Daily Show

I’ve heard it said that we get the government we deserve. Well, guess what? Whomever coined that phrase was spot-freaking-on.

Based on what the general population has to say about our leaders, you don’t like what they’re doing. So, stop bitching and start voting with some actual thought. Because, if history continues to repeat itself, not only will you get what you deserve, but you truly are a dumbass.

Excellent work CV. I totally loved this. You had me until the end. I personally don’t vote because it is not relevant to me who steals my money. Some times the only way to win is not to play. I have never elected anyone so I have zero guilt. I laughed through this whole post. This is to date my second favorite thing you ever wrote. I loved the story about you pants being in your kids room and you had to knock on his door to get them only to have them handed to you in a ball.

In a way I admire your voting apathy. I still cling to the thought that maybe I can make a difference. Unfortunately, to date the only difference I’ve made is in my blood pressure.

I love that you said – some times the only way to win is not to play. Why you ask? Well, because that’s pretty much a line from the movie War Games and it reminds me a simpler time when all we had to fear was Russia blowing us to Kingdom Come…wherever that is.

Oh I also like you because you remember the kid pant wrinkle mess blog post.

      Tom, thanks for reading.

  2. Here’s the problem. We’ve perpetuated a cycle where only the richest elite can even afford to run for office. So they were already out of touch with reality to begin with. The populace (the educated ones anyway) are completely disenchanted with the whole circus. Meanwhile the vicious circle is continuing because who in their right mind would WANT to suddenly join the shenanigans, so the powerful run on personal pork-filled platforms just to get more power. In order to get more (read $$$) support for the desired power, they reach out to the fringes.

We’re missing the middle. We have the looney liberals and the crazy conservatives. When you have a string and you cut out the middle, you’re left holding the ends. Your string is now broken and worthless.

Government shutdown? Congrats, you’ve just enabled term limits. You’re being furloughed from your political position.

Wow, that’s one helluva comment. Where to start….
You know, you said there’s no middle. That’s actually accurate for just about everything. Rich or poor. Left or right. Everything is polarized. It’s one or the other.
That’s why I’m an independent. I roll with it and choose whichever is best. And, trust me that’s not an easy task.
